Luxury carmaker Bugatti and shoe giant Adidas have come together to auction a limited-edition football boot, coming with a digital twin. The two companies announced the ‘adidas X Crazyfast Bugatti’ shoe, engineered for speed and lightness, with bespoke Bugatti design flourishes. Only 99 pairs of this rare item will ever be available.
The auction will be conducted using crypto, but fiat currency can also be used through MoonPay’s crypto payments infrastructure. It will take place on the adidas Collect Web 3 platform from November 8th to November 11th, with winners receiving an exclusive digital shoebox from November 13th onwards.
The boots will be unveiled by footballers Rafael Leao and Karim Benzema towards the end of the month. The shoes carry two phrases: “Impossible is Nothing” and “Create the Incomparable”, representing adidas’ pursuit of performance and Bugatti’s commitment to hyper sports cars respectively. The insignia of Ettore Bugatti is also included, honouring the founder.
Each pair will be delivered in its own unique box, inspired by carbon fiber designs, the same strong and lightweight material used to build most of Bugatti’s hyper sports cars. The shoes feature adidas’ Speedframe sole plate technology, Aerocage innovation, and Aeropacity Speedskin, providing stability, support, and speed. The monomesh material is decorated with a flash of Bugatti Blue.
This marks another rise in the popularity of limited-edition products paired with digital assets, known as ‘phygitals’.
