
The Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority has given its approval for the local cryptocurrency exchange arm of Binance. This gives Swedish citizens the right to manage and trade digital currencies.
According to a Jan. 11 announcement, Binance Nordics AB was granted registration status by the Swedish FSA after going through “months of constructive engagement”. This effective decision-making enables Swedish residents to access Binance’s crypto services.

The Swedish financial authority’s approval followed regulators in France, Bahrain, Spain, and Dubai giving similar approvals to Binance earlier in 2022. Authorities in countries such as the UK, USA, Canada, and Japan took action against the exchange, reprimanding it and warning potential investors about the risks associated with digital assets.

On Jan. 10, a US court gave preliminary approval to a deal allowing Binance.US to acquire assets worth over $1 billion from Voyager Digital. The latter filed for bankruptcy in July, but FTX had planned to purchase Voyager’s assets before its collapse in November, and they are now available again.
