The first quarter of 2020 saw great advancements in Ethereum development. We are proud to report that research is in full swing and adoption of the protocol is getting closer to mainstream. A key feature of the progress was the work done in consensus algorithms and privacy. Our research & development team is also expanding rapidly.
We have seen a lot of progress in this area, especially with Casper. Many of these advancements are now accessible. On Medium, there are numerous posts explaining the algorithm in detail.
Yoichi has also written several blog posts on the topic. He has formally proven the fix and posted about “Vlad Casper”. In addition, the work on Casper is now stable enough to permit the posting of sharding. Although the high-level details have been finalized, discussions still center on the smaller details, such as Casper’s contract design.
Vlad has also written some blog posts. Bugs in the ENS code have caused delays in its release, but we are now much closer to the launch date after the completion of a security audit.
Formal tests for Metropolis are under way and the core development teams are making progress towards full specification agreement. EIPs for some of these tests are now available, and more are being created all the time.
