Following a surge of ordinal enrollments, the blockchain technology has been ported over to the Litecoin community, with over 13,000 sign ups to the chain. Software developer Anthony Guerrera was able to make the ordinal enrollments possible within the Litecoin network by receiving 22 tokens to move the know-how to a proof-of-work blockchain.
Digital Collectibles Readying Launch on Litecoin Network
The Litecoin (LTC) cryptocurrency community was overjoyed when it was announced that ordinal signing ups were possible on the network. Software developer Antonio Guerrera accepted a challenge to port the know-how to Litecoin after the stake grew from five LTCs to 22 tokens.
Although there are many ways to describe the Litecoin community, there are some commonalities in its code base. Along with other additions, such as Segregated Witness (Segwit) and Taproot, this allows for ordinal enrollments to be made on the Litecoin chain.
“ONLY ON: BTC Ordinals are now on Litecoin,” Guerrera proclaimed on Feb. 18. The open source codebase was also shared by the coder on Github, also noting that he wrote the first Ordinal on-chain. The developer stated:
The primary Ordinal on the Litecoin network has been enrolled on the Litecoin blockchain. The Mimblewimble whitepaper is now permanently inscribed on the Litecoin chain.
Since the codebase was made available, many LTC-based ordinals have been minted. As of the time of writing, there are roughly 13,211 ordinals on the Litecoin blockchain. Several people have shared their ordinal creations on social media, with Litecoin Ordinal Promote recently launching LTC collections with inscriptions.
In the meantime, the number of ordinal signups for the Bitcoin blockchain is over 160,000 users, and the trend is showing no signs of abating. Infrastructure projects are continuously being undertaken by people around the world. Bitcoin-based ordinals can also utilize minting tools to issue an ordinal signup with a full node to get a base rate and wallets.
There are a lot of collections competing to be the top-tier NFT tokens on the Bitcoin blockchain. It’s difficult to predict how the development will progress, as it did on the Bitcoin network. However, what matters most is the community. The first one was minted, and many others have followed suit. It will be interesting to see the digital collectibles created in the future, whether on Bitcoin or Litecoin, as they enter the NFT financial market dominated by networks like Ethereum.
