Crypto classes organized by Ukrainian Minister have begun to use a portal run by the government. More than 20,000 people have already registered for the educational course in the war-torn country, with the goal of making it a leading crypto jurisdiction.

Thousands of Ukrainians to Learn About Bitcoin, Smart Contracts, Mining and E-Commerce

‘D_ya of Ukraine’ (Diia), the government-run portal for digital education, has launched the first classes of a course to improve the cryptographic literacy of Ukrainian citizens, the country’s Minister Of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov announced.

Quoted by crypto news outlet Forklog, the government official stressed that the course could become mandatory and “the largest in the history of virtual asset development in Ukraine.” More than 20,000 applicants had already registered.

The educational program is completely free and will include 100 hours of theory as well as practice. Participants will learn about the history and development of money, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, Ethereum, smart contracts and smart contracts, mining consensus algorithms, hot or cold wallets, and the opportunities and risks associated with cryptocurrency trading.

The initiative is a result of a partnership between two organizations – the Digital Ministry of Ukraine and crypto exchange Whitebit, Filecoin Foundation, Atlantis World, a social metaverse portal. It was officially announced in December when Fedorov tweeted: “Our goal is to make Ukrainians a crypto-advanced nation.”

The Ukrainian Parliament, Verkhovna Rada, passed a law “On Virtual Assets” in mid-February last year. Despite the invasion of Russia, the government continued to work towards developing and regulating the crypto market, with the first steps being taken at the end of October.

Speaking to reporters during the World Economic Forum in Davos in January, Fedorov confirmed Kiev’s “very ambitious plan” to make Ukraine “the most digitized country” in the next two years and “the best crypto jurisdiction in the world.” Ukraine is already a regional leader in cryptocurrency adoption.

The nation under attack also relied upon donations in many cryptocurrencies to raise funds to support its defense and relief efforts. Recent reports from blockchain analytics firms Elliptic and Chainalysis show that the country has raised more than $212,000,000 during the war, with nearly $70 million coming from wallets that it provided.
