Yandex, the most widely used search engine in the world, keeps its currency converter up to date, which now consists of cryptocurrencies. The widget displays the exchange rates of currency in fiat currencies and plans to introduce crypto-to-crypto pairs soon.
Yandex Adds Cryptocurrency Into Its Currency Converter
Users of Russia’s main search engine, Yandex, can now access data on the top 140 most popular cryptocurrencies and information on the national currencies of various countries. The corporation has included new figures in the latest version of its currency converter.
The widget is situated just above the search results. It includes a value chart as well as a fast conversion tool. According to Yandex, the software is able to recognize common phrases and even slang in the query.
The display of tokens and foreign money will be available in Russian rubles, US dollars, euros and other fiat currencies. There is also the option to view the cost of a particular digital asset in another cryptocurrency, as well as the ability to add or subtract pairs.
Yandex draws information from Coingecko, one of the most important aggregation portals in the crypto space. According to Yandex’s internal statistics, so far in 2021, the most sought after cryptocurrencies have been Solana, Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin.
Global online platforms offer similar features, but access is limited to certain ones. As reported by RBC Crypto, Twitter launched a feature that allows cryptocurrency rate tracking in December 2020, but the social media platform is blocked in Russia.
In January 2021, the “On Digital Financial Assets” regulation came into force in Russia, but authorities still need to regulate transactions with decentralized cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin. This could happen in 2023, according to statements by officials.
In November 2020, a bill was issued to legalize crypto-mining. The legislation also seeks to regulate the sale of cryptocurrencies that have been mined using trading platforms abroad, or under certain authorized regimes in Russia.
