’s Ethereum Layer 2 network Google Cloud Joins Polygon’s Ethereum Layer 2 Network as Validator

Published:

Polygon Labs has announced that Google Cloud is now a validator on Polygon PoS network. This is a major development as it will bring the same infrastructure used to power YouTube and Gmail to help secure the Ethereum layer 2 protocol.

Google Cloud joins a list of over 100 validators on the Polygon network, including recent addition Deutsche Telekom. The company revealed the development in a post on Twitter on September 29.

According to Polygon Labs, the new validator will provide a “high-quality, trusted, security-minded” layer of security for Heimdall, Bor, and Polygon PoS users. In the proof-of-stake blockchain world, validators are key as they operate the nodes that help secure the network via a process called staking. The native token MATIC is used in this crucial network operation.

Google Cloud’s support of the Polygon PoS network follows its recent announcement of its supporting eleven more blockchains for its BigQuery public datasets.

Polygon is a leading Ethereum layer 2 solution. It is a fully featured platform that enables developers to build and connect to Ethereum-compatible blockchain networks. The platform provides developers with a suite of robust tools for building and deploying decentralized apps and smart contracts.
