Tragic Death of Crypto Entrepreneur Fernando Pérez Algaba in Argentina

Argentine authorities have opened an investigation into the death of Fernando Pérez Algaba, a millionaire entrepreneur and crypto influencer, after his dismembered body was found in Buenos Aires Province, according to El Pais.

Algaba, a Spaniard with 900,000 followers on Instagram, had been living in Argentina for a week before his murder. Police identified him by his fingerprints and tattoos, and revealed that he had been shot three times and then dismembered. According to El Pais, the main hypothesis of the investigation is that he was the victim of a settling of scores related to his debts.

A prominent figure in the cryptocurrency world, Algaba started his career selling sandwiches at 14. He later made his fortune through cryptocurrency trading and a luxury vehicle rental service. He had an impressive collection of high-end cars, motorcycles, and jet skis.

Unfortunately, Algaba’s success story was tarnished by financial problems. His company, Motors Lettuce SRL, had been bouncing checks less than a year after its founding in 2018. Additionally, he had irrecoverable debts with Argentina’s tax agency.

The investigation has also focused on Algaba’s possible ties to the Barra Bravas gang, based on a note on his phone that indicated he had lost a great deal of money in a cryptocurrency business. The note also mentioned a threat from the son of one of the main leaders of the Barra Bravas of Boca Juniors, who demanded a loan of US$40,000.

However, Rodolfo Pérez Algaba, Fernando’s brother, denies that his brother had any involvement in any illegal activities, despite his financial difficulties.
