On Saturday night, Elon Musk accused popular Twitter account @ExplainThisBob of being a scam, leading to its suspension. The account had over 402,000 followers prior to its suspension and was connected to a cryptocurrency token called $BOB.
In response to Musk’s tweet, Bob replied, “Bob is not a scam, but a decentralized memecoin with 0 tax, and no contract ownership. Bob is inspired by Doge, and for the people.”
Surprisingly, Musk had previously commented on the account in April, saying “I love Bob.”
Another similar but smaller account, @AskTheWassie, was also suspended after Musk noticed it. He tweeted, “Promotion of scams under the guise of being a funny/helpful bot will result in suspension. Doesn’t matter how much you pay us,” in reference to the account.
Following the suspensions, $BOB plummeted more than 27%.
